Greetings Friends,

What an amazing line-up we have for you this week – and the great films and events just keep coming!

There’s much excitement about the Central Coast’s very first ReelAnime Film Festival.  Featuring a hand-picked selection of animated feature films from Japan, REEL ANIME 2010 is a wholly different kind of event, with each film showcasing the best that the new wave of anime has to offer. Experience the visual splendour, unadulterated joy and eye-popping thrills of anime on the big screen.  Opens this Thursday Sept 2nd!

The Winner of the Special Jury Prize at Cannes, FATHER OF MY CHILDREN, is an engaging, compassionate & profoundly moving film which offers rare insights into the film industry. A father who adores his family and passionately strives to discover new talent and develop innovative film projects finds his business in financial straits.  I can’t wait to see this fine French film!

Mark Fitzpatrick’s new film THE NOTHING MEN is ‘A TICKING TIMEBOMB OF TESTOSTERONE.” (InFilm)  Mark’s a born and bred Avoca boy & is giving a Director’s Screening. “This intriguing screenplay sucks us in from the start and ratchets up the tension…a striking and haunting work, twisting and morphing as it sweeps us along its unexpected trajectory.” Hear the story behind the story. Join Mark this Saturday 4th Sept at 3:45pm for a Q & A.  Tickets $13.50 include bubbly or beer.

ERROL FLYNN.  That’s all I’ve needed to say & our INTERNATIONAL TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY is creating a-vast interest.  Not only Errol Flynn but also the 70th Birthday of the film – the all time classic THE SEA HAWK. I know you landlubbers look forward to pulling on your pirate boots, slipping on your eyepatch and donning your Captain’s hook for a night of pirate lunacy!  The wenches will be abringing round the pirate food and filling the black jacks from the hogshed grog barrel before we batten down the hatches for this mighty pirate tale. Dead men tell no tales – so be here for yourself on Friday 17th September.

Excitement is mounting for our COASTIES FILM FESTIVAL.  With four categories – primary and secondary schools under 5 minutes, open under 10 minutes and open under 100 seconds, there is a lot of scope.  Early bird entries close this Friday, and if your film is not quite ready – work quickly for the final deadline on September 24th.  Great to see YOUR film on the big screen; wonderful prizes too!

So many great films and events at the Theatre; if you’d like you can stay in touch with us by subscribing to my weekly newsletter …just click on the newsletter button and follow the prompts.

See you very soon, at the Theatre!
Beth
