We have a great and diverse line-up of films for you, with two new films this week. The Winner of the Special Jury Prize at Cannes, FATHER OF MY CHILDREN, is an engaging, compassionate & profoundly moving film which offers rare insights into the film industry. A father who adores his family and passionately strives to discover new talent and develop innovative projects finds his business in financial straits. Margaret gave it 4 stars saying: “This wonderful film depicts the relentless nature of the beast, the roller-coaster ride, the unstoppable nature of a film in production and the price that's paid for being in the middle of such a life.” I can’t wait to see this fine French film!
‘A TICKING TIMEBOMB OF TESTOSTERONE.” (InFilm) Mark Fitzpatrick’s new film THE NOTHING MEN is ”…a tense, taught and thoroughly captivating film.” Mark’s a born and bred Avoca boy & will be here this Saturday for a Director’s Screening, which are always fascinating. “This incisive and intriguing screenplay sucks us in from the start and ratchets up the tension…a striking and haunting work, twisting and morphing as it sweeps us along its unexpected trajectory. Stunning performances from Colin Friels and David Field. The score enhances the film's sustained, edgy mood - right up until the apocalyptic climax, which will resonate for a long time.” (Urbancinefile) Hear the story behind the story. Join Mark this Saturday 4th Sept at 3:45pm for a Q & A. Tickets $13.50 incl bubbly or beer.

ME AND ORSON WELLES is a hit with you! David gave it 4 and Margaret 4 ½ stars saying: “This completely delightful film has at its core a mesmerizing performance from CHRISTIAN McKAY as Welles, he not only looks incredibly like Welles', he captures the man's knowing capricious arrogance deliciously. This is an exhilarating ride, a witty, fascinating insight into one of the towering talents of last century. It's one of the best experiences you'll have of the theatre in film.”
