Brian Cadd is a bona-fide music legend, a multi-award winning songwriter and recipient of an Order of Australia (AM). This powerhouse singer and piano player is as energised and creative as ever.

 

His career began with the iconic Australian band The Groop in 1966 and wrote all their hits including Woman You’re Breaking Me and Such A Lovely Way. He then formed Axiom, heavily influenced by The Band and dubbed Australia’s first supergroup, he penned hits including Little Ray of Sunshine, Arkansas Grass and My Baby’s Gone.

The next few years saw gold and platinum records and prestigious awards for film scores, title songs and TV themes. In addition, hits included Ginger Man, Let Go, Don’t You Know It’s Magic and Alvin Purple.

After being based in the US during the seventies and eighties, Brian moved back to Australia in 1997 where he has remained, still playing to huge audiences nationwide. In 2007 he was inducted into the Aria Hall of Fame and in the same year was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2018 he was awarded an Order of Australia (AM).

In 2019 Brian released Silver City, produced in Nashville by Mark Moffatt, since 1960 Brian Cadd remains one of Australia’s greatest treasures; a true Statesman of songwriting and recording.

Newly restored in 4K to coincide with the film’s 40th anniversary, STOP MAKING SENSE is directed by renowned filmmaker Jonathan Demme and is considered by critics as one of the greatest concert films of all time.

STOP MAKING SENSE captures Talking Heads in all their kinetic glory and cements them as one of the most influential bands of the 70s and 80s. The film stars legendary band members David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz and Jerry Harrison along with an electrifying ensemble of supporting musicians. The performance was shot over the course of three nights in front of packed-out crowds at Hollywood’s Pantages Theatre in December 1983 and features all their most memorable songs.

It will be flashbacks to all sorts of happy memories through your life – not only celebrating 50 years of the band’s hit after Aussie hit, it’s a celebration of you and your relationship with the Dragon songs. Each song is a snapshot of what was happening to you the first time you heard it on the radio or on Countdown and, as such, is branded indelibly into your memory.

Songs from the 80s like Rain, Speak No Evil, and Dreams of Ordinary men and songs from the Phoenix Years like Don’t I look like Jim, Roses, Babylon, and many more. Kate Miller-Heidke embarks on the CATCHING DIAMONDS Massive National Regional Tour of Australia. Coming to Avoca Beach Theatre on Tue 6th Feb 2024 at 7:30 pm. VIP presale 5th Sept, General tickets 6th Sept.
Kate Miller-Heidke is an award-winning singer-songwriter who traverses the worlds of folk, pop, opera and musical theatre. She has performed on stages as varied as the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Coachella, the New York Metropolitan Opera, the Eurovision Song Contest, the Sydney Opera House, and the Roebuck Bay Hotel, Broome.
And now, after long months locked away writing songs, she’s hitting the road to play in dozens of beautiful theatres around Australia.
Kate will be playing her greatest hits and most beloved pop songs, as well as performing tracks from her original musicals ‘Muriel’s Wedding the Musical’ and the new ‘Bananaland’, some unexpected covers, taking requests, and telling stories from across her varied career. Excitingly, she’ll also be debuting new material from her forthcoming 6th studio album, which will dive deep into the genre of ‘gothic folk’.
This is a special opportunity to see Kate in intimate, stripped-back mode, accompanied by her long-term collaborator Keir Nuttall on guitar.
(The bendy poles from Eurovision will be there emotionally, but not physically).
